Weekly Classes, All Ages
Go with director and teaching artist Tom Berger on a 2,800-year journey back to the early beginnings of the theatre. From Ancient Greece to Rome to Shakespeare to Hamilton, Berger modifies the course he created for Stagedoor Manor to cover how theatre has changed over the centuries as well as how theatre has affected and reflected the world around it. Part interactive lecture, part text analysis, and part exploring texts from every major era of history, Theatre History is a great way to get a more rounded and appreciative view of theatre and its importance to the world. This is a virtual class and will take place from your device at home! $60 per student, ages 14 & up! Please be sure to provide your email address so we can send you more information! Tom Berger’s work as a director, music director, choreographer, and teaching artist has been seen all over the country in something like 400-odd productions. He has credits as varying as off-Broadway, national tours, major regional theatre, and educational productions with everything from high schools in the Bronx to Ivy League universities. Locally, Tom has worked with STC, Kiel Area Theatre, UW-Sheboygan, and the Sheboygan, Kewaunee, and Plymouth school districts, among others. He currently serves as Artistic Director of Seven Ages Theatricals, Creative Director of the new Manitowoc venue Parkview Playhouse, and an artistic consultant for Lakeshore Productions, Inc., where he’ll return to (hopefully) direct and choreograph The Wizard of Oz in 2021. He lives in Sheboygan with his favorite production, the 10-year-old Sebastian.
