This class introduces students to the expressive combination of watercolor and ink. We will cover supplies and tools to get started. Through step‑by‑step demonstrations, students learn how to build simple washes, create confident ink lines, and combine the two mediums to produce vibrant, layered artwork. Emphasis is placed on technique, experimentation, and developing personal style. No prior experience required. Bring your ideas, sketches, and photos to class, and we’ll turn them into exciting new challenges designed to push your creativity and help you strengthen your drawing and painting skills, boosting your confidence as an artist!

Curtis Newman

About the Instructor Curtis Newman: Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Curtis Newman now resides in Kiel, WI. He paints with oil, watercolors & acrylic paints including digital media. Curtis delights in exploring different techniques and subject matter, particularly subjects that invoke tranquility and a peaceful environment. Illustrating books is another endeavor he enjoys to complement the wonderful stories written by creative and entertaining authors! He majored in Illustration at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and has been illustrating professionally for Harley-Davidson, Usinger Sausage, and German Fest using many mediums, digitally and traditionally. He leads paint parties and conducts classes to share the joys of creating art with others, encouraging people to explore drawing and painting for pleasure, relaxation and to be empowered to overcome challenges!
