Beginning Watercolor with Curtis Newman

Class Objectives:

• September 24****– Exploring Color Theory, mixing and matching, add more techniques, learn to sketch with a brush and pencil for creating a structured foundation for a painting. Building confidence with watercolor to plan and create a painting step by step and the importance of working from light to dark.

October 22- - Painting details and including other mediums such as colored pencils, pen & ink and ballpoint pens. Practice basic shapes and learn lighting, shading and values. When to work from light to dark and exceptions to that rule. Glazing, layering and how to plan a painting workflow. Plan on choosing a subject to paint for next class.

November 19- – In this class we will work on a painting from start to finish! Set up your workspace, and apply workflow from last class to create your painting with confidence! Transfer sketch or photo to watercolor paper and start painting. I will guide you through your painting applying previous lessons. (some watercolor experience needed)
